A Tranquil, Scottish-Inspired Retreat in the Heart of Robertson’s Wine Country
Situated in the scenic Agterkliphoogte Valley and nestled below the Riviersonderend mountain range, Scotsfontein Guesthouse offers a peaceful escape where rustic Cape charm meets timeless Scottish heritage. Just outside Robertson, along the famous Route 62, our guesthouse is set on a private estate surrounded by majestic mountains, birdlife, and vineyards.
Here you will find peace and tranquillity, surrounded by mountains, and wildlife, ranging from the majestic fish eagle to the occasional cape leopard. Over 100 different bird species have been spotted on the farm and surrounding area. For the more adventurous, there are bike and hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.

At the heart of the estate stands a lovingly restored farmhouse dating back to the early 1900s. Once a working dairy farm with vineyards, it has been transformed into a serene retreat with 2 acres of well-kept gardens, a sparkling outdoor swimming pool, and interiors that blend Scottish-inspired décor with natural textures and timeless comfort.
Touches of our Scottish ancestry – from tartan throws to family heirlooms – infuse the space with character and warmth, offering guests a stay that is both meaningful and memorable.
At Scotsfontein, wake up to birdsong, mountain views, and the stillness of wide open spaces. With over 100 bird species, the occasional Cape leopard, and nearby hiking and biking trails, nature is never far. Whether you’re poolside, wine tasting, or exploring the mountains, Scotsfontein is a peaceful haven for nature lovers and those seeking rest.
